Hello all,

The time has come for the Popes to dust off their Papal Tiaras to head off on the next crusade of improvised meanderings the venue is the Rugby Club on the Kenilworth Road in Leamington on May 15th - if any sightings of swirling clouds, lightning, thunder and all manner of weird weather patterns happen to circling above this address on that night it's all in a days work and is a perfectly normal phenomena on one of our gigs... All photos are welcome...   :o)

The O2 gig and the upcoming time warp...

Andy recently asked on Facebook....

"What about the rumour that When Popes Attack are playing the O2 with Them Crooked Vultures in support? Is that in our space/time dimension?"

You heard right Andy, but there is a technicality....

On Saturday we take the payment of one apple and a peanut from gig, head into town and trade in what's left of the apple and the peanut to the greengrocer and invest the proceeds into a hedge fund... when the hedge has grown enough we will take cuttings and sell them at the local garden centre...

After many years (433.7 to be precise) after all is forgotten about who's at the top of the charts these days we will instruct a solicitor via a small dusty email left in a dormant inbox to take the proceeds of the sale of the garden centre (which we will have eventually bought !) and pour them into hiring the O2 (which by this time due to stock fluctuations etc. will be actually be a small seafront cafe in Whitby) and then hire the latest 'Holoband Gig in a Box - your Friendly Noisy Night In!)' which will have the performances of 'Them Crooked Vultures' and 'When Popes Attack' downloaded through a wormhole (Vic's hair doesn't survive the download too well though.... I'll let you imagine...!!)

We then play the O2 with us in the headline slot..!!!    :o)

People can then marvel in wonder at the support band..!!

Would you like me to reserve you a seat by the fat fryer..?

P.S. This was all Scooby's idea... we think it's got merit....

P.P.S. For the other O2 gig you'll have to invent inter-dimensional transport, with nice comfy seats, it's about an hour and a half to the dimension with that gig that's happening now, and strangely, just under 433.7 years for the return journey so you can catch us twice...

Remember as well it's the 4th tomorrow, unless you think we're playing on the 11th... in which case...

A new easier blog and the curious case of the mixed up date......

The Armada has done one blog thing on the site which will remain there for posterity... this is the new one... We hope we can keep up to date enough with it....!!!!

The Mixed up Date......


Since we first booked in this upcoming gig we've been under the impression that we were standing on a stage making noise somewhere around the eve of the 4th December..... We've been telling everyone....

Due to a strange anomaly in the space/time continuum explored on the last gig (and a Facebook mailout from the Clarendon!!) we seem to be playing on the 11th December - a week later according to the normal Roman calendar..!!!!

Due to the recent discovery that we can bend the space time continuum with a recently purchased nylon wisk and and a stainless steel egg poacher and a bit of patience (in the form of the card game!) we have decided that we are going to change the calendar around a bit to suit everyone...... For those that think we are playing on the 11th......WE ARE...!!     :o)

The tricky bit is for those that think we are playing on the 4th.... we still are....... BUT....!!!    We have swapped around the dates so December's date order for Popes fans now looks like this........

1st December - Tuesday
2nd December - Wednesday
3rd December - Thursday (Jam Session at the Clazza for those in the know!!)
11th December - Friday (this is swapped around with the 4th - we're NOT playing...!!)
5th December - Saturday
6th December - Sunday

7th December - Monday
8th December - Tuesday
9th December - Wednesday
10th December - Thursday
4th December - (WE ARE PLAYING ON THIS NIGHT...... though in the Roman calendar it's the 11th - just ignore the Roman calendar if your a Popes fan...!!)

12th December - Friday - Back to Roman calendar status...
